Just Sayin': Love ya!

I swapped with Monique for this card recently. What a fabulous way to use a sentiment set as the "art" on a card! And keeping it simple in black and white with a pop of red glimmer paper draws your eye right where you want it. We've got white StazOn, or you could emboss in white on black. The wee heart comes from the Owl Builder punch.

Birthday Wishes

Hey there,

Here's another card I CASED but did a little tweaking and added my own touch. I made it for my 9-year-old niece for her birthday last month and she absolutely loved it. She's a bug catcher to the core and always has something in a mason jar hatching. She didn't inherit that from me, because believe me, I'm the first to stomp on anything creepy crawly! :)

Enjoy,
Monique.

Hello there,

Unfortunately I can't claim this creation, but when I saw it I had to CASE it, too cute! My picture isn't the best but hopefully you can see the scalloped awning and ledge. Easy to make with lots of 'wow' factor.

Thanks, Monique.

Birthday Florets

Can't say enough about the Fabulous Florets set! Here's a classic black and white composition (the card base is black, hard to tell against the black background) "popped" with a single red flower. The simplicity is the strength of this design, as well as alternating between outline and solid images.

Watch for more samples using this set in upcoming posts! -Monique

Anchors Aweigh!

Monique and I fell hard for this nautical paper in the SU! Summer Mini catalog, but she beat me to the draw in making it into a fabulous card! Note the baker's twine, which is all cotton so it easily ties and holds a knot or bow... and you could dye it if you wanted.

The summer mini is in effect through the end of August, and many delightful products will become unavailable when it expires, so take a look if you haven't yet (there's a handy-dandy link to the left).

See you on the high seas... Kathy (for Monique)

Fun Fold Challenge

The March challenge for our 'Cool n' the Gang' Demo Group was to create a card using a fun fold technique. There are a lot of great ideas out there online, but I came upon one that had and angle fold instead of the traditional horizontal or vertical fold and thought I'd give it a try. I tweaked the original idea a little bit and this is my finished product. Hope you like!
Thanks for stopping by!

Family Portraits

Happy New Years! I hope you all had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the new year.

This post is a sampling at some of the family portraits I made as gifts for family and friends this year. I have been wanting to do these for a while and thought they'd make great Christmas gifts... and I was right. They turned out sooo cute and everybody got a great laugh out of 'em. And surprisingly, they were much easier to stamp then I anticipated. I sure hope SU continues adding additional coordinating sets to go with them.
Enjoy!

Jordan's 8th Birthday

Well it was a girl's night out and then sleep over for my niece Jordan's 8th birthday. First, we started the evening with a manicure where Miss Janie at Shear Perfection pampered her sweet little fingers and then painted them "Bet it all on OPI Orange". Then dodging thunderstorms, we headed on to El Mezcal for some delicious nachos, (mmm, mmm good) followed by a quick stop at the video store, then onto the important stuff... dessert! It was still raining but really, what's a little rain when Sylas and Maddy's ice cream is calling! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! :) Next we headed home, hopped in our jammies and settled in for our chick flick.

Saturday morning came bright and early as Jordan's eyes popped open waaaay to soon for her Aunt. So after milking the fake sleep for a half an hour, we rolled out of bed at 6:59 (but who's keeping track). We enjoyed some piping hot cinnamon rolls fresh out of the oven, (and a couple of strong cups of coffee), washed our hands then headed to the craft table where we made some bugs! After playing with our bugs we were ready for the second chick flick, and as Jordan put it... "do we dare have another cinnamon roll?" OF COURSE, it's your birthday! I replied. Plates and milk in hand, back to the couch we go. All in all I'd say the Birthday was a success!

Thanks Jordan for a fun sleep over, I hope you had a great time!

Monique
