Wee Gifts for Mom: The Fashionable Clothespin

I have been thinking of some small gifts I'd like to create for my Mother, gifts that would focus the attention on the sentiment behind the gift more than on the object itself. Perhaps you'd like to join me in honoring your mother, or some other woman who has mentored and cared for you in significant ways.

My friend & fellow demo Lisa inadvertently gave me the first idea in the series: a way to display a photograph that Mother will enjoy looking at every morning at breakfast! I should tell you that wasn't necessarily Lisa's intent, but her "thank you" gift to me provides the ideal object to CASE! A giant clothespin is just the right size, inexpensive, and easy to embellish simply and quickly. I can clip in messages, change out the photos, pretty up a memory verse and put it here.

My Mother has significant memory loss, so an object such as this will be examined and enjoyed a dozen times at each meal. Perhaps I'll have to fill a little file box with options to change out regularly! -Kathy

Sale-a-brate 2011: Mother's Day Bliss

I like cards with unexpected folds, so my next project using Sale-a-bration materials was to try out this simple variation on a standard sized card. The "Bliss" stamp set was the first one that caught my eye (those of you who know me well will not be surprised!), and I decided to pair it with a color I don't often use - pink - because this designer paper (also a Sale-a-bration option) was just so lovely. I've added some dimension using a product called Crystal Effects, as well as by cutting out one of the butterflies from the set.

Watch for a totally different look (very formal/masculine) using the same fold and stamp set in the next post! -Kathy

Sweet Pea Mother's Day

Hello again,
I saw this posted on the Stampin' Connection by C. Weeks and thought it was sooo sweet. I just love the color combination. The Sweet Pea DSP made it come together so quick and easy I have a nice little stash ready to go, all I need to do is add the appropriate sentiment. Hope it inspires you like it did me. Thanks for stopping by!
M.

Mother's Day

This is the swap I made for our April's "Cool and the Gang" challenge using a watercolor technique. Instead of using the Aqua Painter to apply the color, I used the watercolor crayons and colored directly onto the stamp itself, misted with water, and stamped onto the paper. Lots of fun! Keep an eye out "Coolie's" I'll be using this technique again! :) Thanks to Tonya Treat for the idea!
