Cherry Cobbler Blossom
Hi there! Isn't this a scrumptious color of red? It's in our new color collection, called Cherry Cobbler. But there are retiring items on this card, too- the gingham ribbon that adds just the right touch of whimsey, and the "happiness" stamp (from the set Warm Words) will be retiring June 30.
I used the polka dot plate from the Backgrounds 1 set to emboss the front of the Whisper White card base with the Big Shot. Then I used about a quarter sheet of red, first cutting a narrow frame for the card front (which I adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals so that it would cast an interesting shadow). With the remainder I punched six ovals using the large oval punch. Actually, it's easiest if you use the 1" punch to make the hole in the petal first, then work from the opening on the back to center the circle at one end of the oval opening to create the petals. To curve the petals, I put them on the silicone rubber mat for the Big Shot, and rubbed gently with the wide end of a bone folder. There was enough left to make a scallop oval mat for the sentiment.
The "leaves" are made from scraps of Old Olive using the large oval punch. You punch out a shape, then punch again in almost the same place, just overlapping the edge of the paper a bit to make a narrow punched sliver. I glued the petals down in opposite pairs to get a uniform look.
Give this flower a try when it's too hot to be outside watering your other ones!! -Kathy
